Customer profile: Customer is a leading manufacturer of Industrial gases and Hospital gases from India with US collaboration, also engaged in designing of plants and has set up at over 20 locations in India.

The challenge: Original design was 15 KVA connected to a 80 KVA output for servers for redundancy and 35 KVA for workstations and other load in the setup. It was not possible to accommodate above configuration in available space. As the server racks were also to be accommodated in same space. The competition was predominantly with ETON, APC and Emerson.

The solution: We offered 70 KVA Power+. 15 KVA for server, 35 KVA for other load and in N+2 configuration with 2 redundant modules of 10 KVA. 10 KVA load increased and final configuration was decided as 80 KVA. We supplied one UPS with built in redundancy instead of two UPS systems offered by competitor.

Key benefits: Space saving, we could accommodate Power+ in 1/3rd space as compared to any other smallest UPS. We could offer future expandability in same space for additional 20 KVA.

Solution profile: Space saving was our main advantage. Premium over Power+ had to be convinced with Efficiency difference ( 96% against 91% ) and reduced initial cost of external electrical like cables, MCCBs, DG set capacity etc due to unity PF and reduced THD i. The premium and gross margins were not very convincing but we could get a major breakthrough in to a corporate group. Based on performance of above UPS, customer has standardized on Power+ and has so far bought 20, 30, 40 KVA Power+ each at three other locations - all with 100KVA STSW keeping scope for future expansion.
